ABOUT US
I became a mother a little later than most. I was turning 40 when my son, Joshua, was born. But my "advanced maternal" years didn't come with any advanced maternal wisdom to ease the learning curve. I struggled like so many others to find my way as a mother. But over time I learned what my son needed. He led the way and I followed.
Our journey together led us to cloth diapers when he was about a year. Joshua had a mild rash and I suspected the wipes. I tried a few different brands, sensitive wipes, gentle wipes, aloe, fragrance free. All of them claimed to not harm the baby. Which just made me suspect. I switched to cloth wipes using an old flannel pillowcase for fabric and a homemade wipes solution. The rash cleared.
Then the real fun began. A friend gave me some Prefolds and I bought some Prorap diaper covers. I was thrilled that I didn't have to go out to buy diapers anymore. When we were low on diapers, I just threw them in the wash before dinner. And into the dryer before bed. In the morning, fresh clean cloth diapers. I was hooked. In no time, I had created my own diaper fold, was converting friends and then I bought Baby's Abode!
Baby's Abode is a way for me to share my information about the health benefits, environmental benefits and the economic benefits of cloth diapers with other mothers. But most importantly it gives me an opportunity to be home with my children.
